PhHN Daily: Zegras Pushes Flyers; Devils Trade Talk; Kadri Rumors
The Philadelphia Flyers are back in the win column thanks to a big game from Trevor Zegras. It was a good win for the Flyers to pick up two points against a Metropolitan Division opponent. The Flyers needed a solid win, and they got it on Saturday, opening their five-game homestand.
Around the league, the Devils are expected to get interest in their 24-year-old netminder, who seems destined for the AHL once again. A 35-year-old centerman could be the perfect fit for many clubs, becoming a name to watch on the trade market.
Could a low-scoring loss for a struggling goaltender feel as good as a win? Get all of that and more on the 10/26 edition of the PhHN Daily.
Philadelphia Flyers
Philly Hockey Now: The Philadelphia Flyers earned a much-needed bounce-back two points against the New York Islanders in a 4-3 shootout win on Saturday.
It was a late-game effort, sparked by the Flyers’ third line that helped get the game to overtime, but it was Trevor Zegras who really made the difference for the Flyers.
Has the Zegras era in Philadelphia arrived?
Also, from last night, I wanted to include this clip I saw well after the postgame.
Jamie Drysdale is not known for his defensive play. Not even in the slightest. However, the Flyers’ young defenseman came up big time for Philly with a couple of big defensive plays in OT. Here is the clip:
Zegras pushed the Flyers to the win, but it wouldn’t have happened without Sam Ersson making the stops he did and Drysdale making those clutch defensive plays in overtime.
NHL Rumors & News
New Jersey Hockey Now: New Jersey Devils goaltender Nico Daws, shockingly, cleared waivers just before the season started. With Jacob Markstrom’s return imminent, Daws is likely Utica-bound. Now, reports say Daws is drawing trade interest, which could make the situation interesting.
Boston Hockey Now: The losing streak is over! The Boston Bruins have won a game, and an impressive one at that. Here’s how Boston took down the Colorado Avalanche on Saturday.
San Jose Hockey Now: With all the bright young skaters the Sharks have, it’s a bit odd to think that the next most crucial young player on that team (aside from Celebrini) is Yaroslav Askarov. Askarov had his struggles early on, but a good game in goal in a loss to New Jersey might just be as good as a win for the goalie.
Sportsnet: Teams are looking for a 2C. The Calgary Flames are struggling. Nazem Kadri seems like the perfect trade candidate. Trade rumors surrounding him are real, and Elliotte Friedman discussed the speculation around the 35-year-old center.
