After a promising start to their homestand, the Philadelphia Flyers offense fell flat in their final two games of their five-game stretch at home.

The Flyers previous three games had seemed sloppy, needing two shootouts and a fantastic game in goal to get wins. It finally caught up to them when their offense went silent. The Flyers drop back-to-back games before heading on the road, starting with a challenging trip to Montreal.

Was it missing players? Was it in their gameplan? Lots of blame can go around in the last two games.

Around the league, one rookie seems poised to take the league by storm. The Maple Leafs provide an update on Chris Tanev, and more trade rumors.

Philadelphia Flyers

It was not a pretty game on Sunday. In fact, it was such a low event game I found myself drinking three cups of coffee throughout.

The Flyers offense fell flat in back-to-back games to end the team’s five-game homestand, including Sundays 2-1 loss to the worst in the league Flames.

So, what exactly went wrong on Sunday? It hasn’t been too pretty for the Flyers lately, but Sunday was especially poor. Maybe the impact of Tyson Foerster was missed, as he was out with a lower-body injury. Maybe the team was missing Emil Andrae’s puck moving ability as he remains in Lehigh Valley?

There are many factors that contributed to the loss. However, none are bigger than the lack of shots on net, and little to no net-front play.

NHL Rumors & News

Sportsnet: Maple Leafs forward Chris Tanev was stretched off the ice after a scary collision with Matvei Michkov during Saturday’s game in Philadelphia. Tanev was taken to a Philadelphia hospital following the game. While he was held overnight, he has since been discharged and is returning to Toronto.

NY Post: Matthew Schaefer is the real deal. At just 18 years old, Schaefer is already making him presence felt. The 2025 first overall pick played a big part in the Islanders’ comeback win vs. the Blue Jackets. This kid is exciting to watch.

San Jose Hockey Now: Speaking of young, exciting defensemen, it looks like Sam Dickinson is staying in the NHL this season. Hear what he had to say about sticking with the Sharks.

New Jersey Hockey Now: Trade rumors, trade rumors, trade rumors! The New Jersey Devils always seem to be in the middle of NHL trade rumors. This time, they are linked to a coveted veteran forward who could be on the move.

And finally, how about some Stev n Stamkos trade talk?

Could we see a Nashville fire sale?

Unrelated to the article – but why does the schedule link at the top of the page show last year’s schedule instead of this year’s schedule?
