Flyers Game 13: Lines, Notes, & How to Watch vs. Canadiens

Published

on

After back-to-back losses to end their homestand, the Philadelphia Flyers (6-5-1) head on to take on the Canadiens in Montreal (9-3-0).

Montreal is off to a surging start to the season, winning four of its last five games, including its most recent three games. The Flyers have won three of their previous five, dropping their last two against the Maple Leafs and Flames.

It has been a lack of offensive production that has been hurting the Flyers, as they have scored two or fewer goals in regulation or overtime in three of their last six games, while the Canadiens have scored four or more in five of their last six.

Can the Flyers find an offensive groove Tuesday night? We will see when the puck drops at 7:00 p.m. EST at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

Here is how the Flyers are expected to line up on Tuesday.

Things to Watch

The Flyers have not received anything close to the offensive output they have been searching for. It has been great goaltending that has kept them in position to win low-scoring games. With a challenging opponent like Montreal, the Flyers will have to find ways to get pucks into the back of the net.

One way that has been preached is getting pucks on net and bodies out in front. While that strategy was discussed before Sunday’s game against the Flames, the Flyers still failed to produce. Can they get it going against the Habs?

The Flyers are still not getting the performances they have hoped for out of players like Matvei Michkov and Travis Konecny. It’s not like the players are not generating offense; it just has not been the star production they are looking for. Can Michkov and Konecny finally have their breakout game?

Lastly, the lines have been put through the blender once again. The absence of Tyson Foerster has led to a drastic change in the lineup. At this point, I don’t think anyone, including Rick Tocchet, knows what order lines Nos. 1-3 are in. Before recent injuries, the Flyers had been starting to find chemistry with their lines. Now, they’ll have to do it again. Personally, I will be keeping a close eye on the Dvorak line to take charge.

Not Offsides

*Sigh* 10 games in and Tocchet is already talking about lack of will and now scrambling the lines. Get Michkov away from Coots and I thought Zegras was going to be given a chance at center. That lasted only a few games.
