Bad News: Flyers’ Foerster Out Months After Surgery
Bad news came for the Philadelphia Flyers, as star forward Tyson Foerster will be out for five months, the team announced.
Foerster was initially expected to be out two to three months with an upper-body injury suffered on December 1st in the team’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The forward immediately skated to the bench, holding his right shoulder after a one-timer attempt.
The expectation was that the Flyers would be without their promising young talent for two to three months without surgery. However, the Flyers announced that Foerster underwent further medical testing and consultations. That led to the decision that surgery was the best option.
Per the Flyers’ release, Foerster underwent a successful surgery on the morning of December 15th and is expected to make a full recovery. The five-month timeline would likely mean he is done for the season, with the estimated return date in May 2026.
Foerster had 10 goals and 13 points through 21 games. At the time of his injury, he was the team’s leading goal scorer.
The 23-year-old’s injury is a really tough blow to this Flyers team, whose playoff hopes remain alive.
Nikita Grebenkin and Carl Grundstrom have been filling in for Foerster since the injury.

Here’s a thought… play Michkov more to see if he can help with the scoring production miss. Even with Tyson, if we make the playoffs, we need to develop Michkov for scoring… if we have any chance of a Cup (gulp!), we need to make a feared young line.
Hopefully the shoulder will not be an issue later down the road.
Similar to what happened with Risto and his tricep.
Unfortunate for him and the team. Hopefully recovery goes smoothly. It would be nice for the fans to know what the injury is, specifically. Rotator cuff tear? Bicep tear? Triceps? Why the need for secrecy?
