Welcome to the 12/20 edition of the PhHN Daily, where we have the latest Philadelphia Flyers news and an update on what is going on around the league.

Happy to share that as I write this, I am currently on the train headed to my first road game on the Flyers beat. At the same time, it will be my first sporting event attended at Madison Square Garden.

On the PhHN Daily, we talk about the latest Flyers news, including an exciting prospect recalled. We also have a pair of late-night trades to discuss, as well as one team looking to acquire a player at a position they JUST traded for.

Get it all and more on the 12/20 edition of the PhHN Daily.

Philadelphia Flyers

Philly Hockey Now: Before the NHL roster set ahead of the Holiday freeze, the Flyers made a surprise recall. Denver Barkey is NHL-bound after the Flyers were able to clear Egor Zamula through waivers and assign him to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.

Barkey will be with the team at Madison Square Garden for the team’s Saturday matinee matchup with the New York Rangers.

Speaking of that matchup, puck drop is at 12:30 at the World’s Most Famous Arena. The Flyers and Rangers face off in what is a pretty even matchup. Should be a good one in the Big Apple. Here is everything you need to know before the game.

The Flyers have been rumored to be looking at an upgrade at the bottom of the lineup center position. Did they miss out on a pair of forwards dealt last night?

NHL rumors & news

Montreal Hockey Now: The Montreal Canadiens have been looking for an upgrade at center. They made a trade last night to boost the team down the middle. The Habs dealt a second-round pick for Phillip Danault. Marc Dumont has the instant analysis on Montreal’s latest trade.

TSN: Danault was not the only forward dealt at the buzzer ahead of the roster freeze. The Seattle Kraken traded versatile forward Mason Marchment to the Columbus Blue Jackets for a package of picks, including a second-rounder.

SportsNet: The Edmonton Oilers just traded for a goalie, Tristan Jarry, to fill a massive void in their roster. Short into his tenure with the Oilers, Jarry has hit the injured reserve, putting Edmonton further behind with their goaltending woes. Could the Oilers be back on the trade market looking for another goaltender?

Now, some injury news around the National Hockey Now network.

Vegas Hockey Now: Some bad news in Sin City. The Vegas Golden Knights are headed on the road, and they will be without stars Shea Theodore and Jack Eichel. Hannah Kirkell has the latest in Las Vegas.

New Jersey Hockey Now: Now, for some good news for the Devils. Head coach Sheldon Keefe says that reinforcements are on the way. No, they are not making any trades – they can’t until December 28th at the earliest. However, some big returns are coming to the Devils’ lineup. Could Jack Hughes be nearing his return?

Have no interest in Danault at all. He 32, 2 years left at 5.5 million and five points on the season. Marchment on the other hand would have been a good pickup. He’s 30, making 4.5, is an UFA and has size.

Enjoy the game at MSG.

Judging by the returns on those trades…..Danny B should be able to get 2nd round picks for players like Christian Dvorak and Risto if he intends on selling at the TDL.

Severely doubt they’ll be trading current roster players for futures at the TDL. With the play of Dvorak this year they will look to possibly resign him instead of trading him at the deadline. Everybody was against the Vladar pickup as well as the contract given to Dvorak and in hindsight they were two great moves. Risto is the only DMan they have with size and unless some other team offers a too good to be true offer, I think he’ll be here another year.

I think you need to add to your comment, ” …he’ll be here another year on injured reserve”. Not criticizing you, just everytime I check the roster he is “IR”.
