Things to watch

Any time you play against Connor McDavid, you can’t take your eyes off him. It’s must-watch hockey. That said, McDavid is on an absolute tear lately — 11 points (2G 9A) in his last 5 games. Wow.

Edmonton has this other guy, Leon Draisaitl, and yeah, I guess he’s pretty good too. No, he doesn’t have 11 in 5, but he is not too far removed from a stretch where he had 13 points (3G 10A) in 6 games. This Oilers team is dangerous.

So, per usual, expect a lot of Noah Cates in this game. Cates matches up defensively with McDavid and will likely be deployed on many matchup shifts. Does that mean more time for Matvei Michkov?

Garnet Hathaway and Emil Andrae are both drawing into the lineup after being scratched. Andrae missed just one game, while Hathaway has been scratched since December 20th. Look for both players to try to make an impact.

Watching JettLu in the WJC against world class peers…..I think Danny B may have made a mistake in taking him that high in the draft. Hope he has a great OHL and Memorial Cup playoff…..increase his value, if a trade is ever to be made..
