Welcome to the 1/8 edition of the PhHN Daily!

There has not been much Flyers news since the last daily went out. Wednesday’s practice provided some clarity on the team’s latest injuries.

Around the league, we take a look at a heavyweight bout and the reactions afterwards. We also take a look at some of the latest NHL trade rumors, and quite the situation in St. Louis.

Get it all on the 1/8 edition of the PhHN Daily!

Philadelphia Flyers

Philly Hockey Now: The Philadelphia Flyers are dealing with a handful of injuries. Matvei Michkov missed Tuesday’s game with an injury, and both Bobby Brink and Jamie Drysdale exited the game after taking hits. Wednesday’s practice offered some clarity on each player’s status for the Flyers.

With the Flyers set to host the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday, it looks like Matvei Michkov is back in the lineup while both Drysdale and Brink remain sidelined, unsurprisingly.

Can the Flyers continue to build off two great team wins, or will a streaking Maple Leafs team get in the way? Thursday should be a good and telling game for the Flyers.

NHL rumors & news

What is going on in St. Louis? After 7 goals, Jim Montgomery went to pull Jordan Binnington, who refused to come out, and back-up Joel Hofer was… hiding?

What is going on in St. Louis? For what it’s worth, Chicago did not score again, and Binnington did stay in the game.

We’ll stick with one more Twitter (X) post before we get into the links. Ryan Reaves is absolute nails. The all-league tough guy was in a heavyweight bout with Mathieu Olivier the other night.

Olivier came out with the victory, making him 21-0 over the last two seasons. However, Reaves’ reaction to the fight was even better.

Alrighty, now for the links.

The Athletic ($): Chris Johnston’s NHL Trade Board 3.0 is out, and we’ve got some new names, a new No. 1, and once again, zero Flyers. Catch the latest names on the NHL trade market.

Sportsnet: Speaking of trade rumors, this is the time of year when teams start making their deadline stances. With a handful of teams getting to that point, what is Nick Kypreos hearing about the NHL trade deadline?

New Jersey Hockey Now: Things are a mess in New Jersey right now. Last time we checked in with James Nichols, he wrote that something had to give up top, one way or another. Now, Nichols writes that if it’s not the coach or the GM, then the roster needs a shake-up.

Not Offsides

The attempted goalie change in St. Louis was almost farcical. Montgomery must be losing them if they’re playing games like that with him.

Romus

Monty’s days may be numbered in St Louis.

GMan

Just like his time in Boston, it seems like he’s great in the short term at the start and within a few years, the team stops listening and he’s worn out his welcome.
