After captaining a Canadian team to a bronze medal at the 2026 IIHF World Junior Ice Hockey Championship, Porter Martone is back with the Michigan State Spartans, making his impact felt early.

The top Flyers prospect is having a phenomenal season in East Lansing, Michigan. Before his return from World Juniors, Martone scored 11 goals and 20 points in 16 games. With the international competition over, the young winger has returned to the NCAA as the Michigan State Spartans are in Columbus to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Martone showed no signs of struggle in his first game back. Michigan State went off for a four-goal first period, jumping out to an early lead. The Flyers’ prospect scored two of them, chipping in a secondary assist as well.

In his first game back in the NCAA, Martone turned in a two-goal, four-point night, bringing his season total to 13 goals and 24 points. That puts Martone in a tie for the 17th most points in the NCAA, and 3rd most amongst all freshmen. He is tied for 7th in goals scored and 2nd in goals by a freshman.

The Flyers’ top prospect is putting on a Hober Baker-caliber season.

Martone and the Spartans take on the Buckeyes once again on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. EST.
