Flyers Injury Update: Brink Nearing Return, an Update on Vladar, & Uncertainty on Ristolainen
The injury bug has snuck up on the Philadelphia Flyers, as they now have three players sitting out on Saturday vs. the Rangers, with one on IR.
Starting with that player on injured reserve, Bobby Brink, he is nearing his return to action. He is still on IR, with Aleksei Kolosov filling his place on the roster for the time being. Per head coach Rick Tocchet, Brink skated on Saturday morning and is a possibility for the team’s game vs. the Las Vegas Golden Knights on Monday.
A reminder, Brink was placed on IR, retroactive to January 6th, after he left the first period vs. the Anaheim Ducks with an upper-body injury, so he can be activated at any time.
As for Dan Vladar, he is still day-to-day with his undisclosed injury, though you could probably piece together it’s a lower-body injury after watching the first period vs. Buffalo.
Tocchet said Vladar is likely to join the team on its road trip. However, it will ultimately come down to how his “therapy is going”. If Vladar won’t play any of the three games, he won’t go on the trip.
As for someone who is not going on the trip, Rasmus Ristolainen will not be traveling with the team when they go out West.
Tocchet said the defenseman will not be going on the trip, and that it is more of a week-long thing for Ristolainen. He did not want to put a specific label on it, because it could be longer than seven days.
The Flyers’ defenseman was a late scratch vs. the Sabres, coming out of the lineup with an upper-body injury.
An update will be provided on all three injuries when the next one is available.
