The injury bug appears to have bitten again, as the Philadelphia Flyers’ goaltender, Sam Ersson, exited Thursday’s game vs. the Boston Bruins and did not return to the bench for the third period.

On the NBC Sports Philadelphia broadcast, they pointed out an instance in which Ersson made a stop down low before the puck left the zone. Once the puck was out of the zone, you could see Ersson grabbing at his right pad/leg. It was similar to what had happened before Dan Vladar missed a handful of games due to injury.

Speaking of that injury, the Flyers tried to platoon Ersson with Aleksei Kolosov, which did not go well. That led to four-straight starts, and virtually five-straight (Kolosov pulled early in the game before the stretch) for Ersson, who got a ton of work. Vladar got the net on Wednesday, before Ersson returned between the pipes on Thursday, allowing five goals on 20 shots.

Vladar has taken over in goal.

The Flyers seemed to have avoided the worst with Rasmus Ristolainen, who is back in the lineup after leaving Wednesday’s game early. Travis Konecny was a game-time decision as well, but he is playing and has a goal as well.

However, the Flyers did not leave without another player getting injured.

An update on Ersson will be given when one is provided.

Season’s over, and the playoffs were a mirage.

Leave Kolosov in Lehigh Valley and call up Bjarnason until Ersson gets back.

Let the kid get some experience with the big club.

I agree on all counts. This team seems to like giving fans hope and then taking it away rather brutally. I say move on from Kolosov, who’s had so many chances to prove himself and has faltered. Time to give Bjarnason a chance and call up some of the other kids as well.
