Flyers Game 68, End of the Homestand; Lines, Notes, & How to Watch vs. Hurricanes

The Philadelphia Flyers (28-31-8) will host the Carolina Hurricanes (39-22-4) on Saturday night to conclude their seven-game homestand.
It has not been a kind homestand to the Flyers. Philadelphia needed six games just to get its first win of the homestand–which came in a shootout nonetheless. The Flyers are 1-5-0 in the previous six games of the homestand.
Meanwhile, the Hurricanes have won six straight games. The latest came Friday against the Red Wings.
The puck drops at 7:00 p.m. EST at the Wells Fargo Center.

Not So Kind Homestand
The homestand has been terrible to the Flyers.
Before Saturday’s game, the Flyers have played six straight games at home with only one win to show for it. It started out with some of the worst hockey the Flyers have played all season. Play began to improve during the New Jersey game, and the Flyers finally broke through with a win against the Lightning, though it was a shootout win.
The homestand was just the beginning of Philly’s tough road ahead. The Flyers’ schedule only gets harder, and after Saturday’s game, the next five games are on the road, with just one against a team NOT in a secure playoff position (Chicago).
The Flyers will look to end the homestand on a high note, beating one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference in the Hurricanes.
Unleashing Drysdale
Jamie Drysdale is finally starting to come into his own. He has been and will continue to be a work in progress. However, Saturday’s game may be the next step in unleashing Jamie Drysdale.
GM Daniel Briere has said Rasmus Ristolainen is “day-to-day.” He is likely to miss his second straight game due to an upper-body injury.
Drysdale took over the top power-play unit during the first game of Ristolainen’s absence. Despite no goal to show for it, the power play has not looked better all season. Drysdale has already made offensive strides; now, he gets to show what he can do on the power play.
This is just the next step in unleashing the weapon that Drysdale has the potential to be.

Previous Matchups
The two teams’ recent history has not been kind to the Flyers. Philadelphia has gone 1-6-3 against Carolina in the last 10 meetings. It does not get any better shrinking it down to five games, as the Flyers are 1-3-1 in the last five meetings with the Hurricanes.
Carolina found a way to bounce back from the unthinkable Mikko Rantanen situation and remain the lethal threat that they have always been. The Flyers will have to find success against a team they tend to struggle against.
