David Reinbacher, Dalibor Dvorsky Are Flyers’ Choices In These Mock Drafts

As we get closer to next week’s draft, Philly Hockey Now will publish mock drafts each day for the Philadelphia Flyers’ selections at No. 7 and 22.
Today’s selections were made by The Daily Faceoff and Tankathon. The player comments were written by me.
The Daily Faceoff (Steven Ellis)
7. Flyers: David Reinbacher, D, Kloten HC, (Swiss National League)
The Philadelphia Flyers need help on defense and Reinbacher is one of the top-rated defenders. He is 6-foot-2, 185 pounds with a coveted right-handed shot who plays in Switzerland’s top-ranked professional league. He moves the puck well and uses his size and strength in the corners. In other mock drafts, Reinbacher has gone as high as 5 to Montreal and fallen into the teens.
22. Flyers: Andrew Cristall, LW, Kelowna, WHL
Cristall is undersized at 5-foot-10 and 167 pounds and he’s not known as an elite skater. But Cristall can put the puck in the net. For the Kelowna Rockets, of the Western Hockey League, he has 67 goals and 97 assists over the last two seasons. He also is known as an elite competitor.

7. Flyers: Dalibor Dvorsky, C, AIK
Dvorsky is a solid top-10 candidate who plays center, a notably weak position for the Flyers. The Slovakia native played in Sweden’s second-tier pro league this year. His strengths are his shot and his dedication to two-way play.
22. Flyers: Dmitri Simashev, D, Yaroslavl, KHL
The Flyers would be thrilled if Simashev is on the board at 22. The Russian is a defense-first defenseman. He’s 6-foot-4, 200 pounds and a left-handed shot. If the Flyers go offense at 7, Simashev could be the defensive guy they want.

Excellent, Chuck! For the most part I’ve been focused on the #7 pick. It’s good to see what players might be available at #22. I’m still hoping they do best player available at #7, which seems like it would be a forward, in this forward-deep draft. Next year’s draft appears to be a defensemen-deep draft. While searching on draft related articles, I came upon this site which you might find interesting. It has compiled rankings for a number of mock drafts. https://soundofhockey.com/2023/06/15/the-2023-nhl-draft-big-board-rankings/
I like Tankathons projected picks of Dalibor Dvorsky at #7, and Dmitri Simashev at #22. Both of these players have NHL size, which is critical for success in the playoffs. I just am a bit concerned about Simashev though. Russian players can be real head cases, plus factoring in current geopolitical ‘problems’….
