Matvei Michkov found the back of the net — twice. The Philadelphia Flyers’ top prospect scored his first two goals for HC Sochi on Thursday, including the game-winner with 49 seconds to play.

Sochi defeated Chelyabinsk Traktor, 4-3. Michkov, the Flyers’ first-round draft pick in June, scored his team’s second and fourth goals. The winning goal is in the video below.

Michkov was named Player of the Game and was rewarded with the official torch from the 2014 Sochi Olympics (photo above).

He had 16:19 of ice-time in 20 shifts. He also had two penalty minutes. A video from the KHL showed him taking a hard elbow to the side of the head.

Since Michkov was loaned to Sochi from CKA St. Petersburg, he has taken regular shifts and has shown the kind of talent that made him one of the top prospects in the 2023 NHL Draft.

Michkov has two goals and three assists in four games for Sochi. He is a plus-3.

Flyers officials recently talked about how important it was for Michkov to get ice-time, which he was not getting with SKA St. Petersburg. He was a healthy scratch in three of four games for SKA. In the SKA game he played, he only saw 6:12 of ice-time.
