Philadelphia Flyers leading scorer last season Travis Konecny sat out practice Sunday but there is no apparent cause for alarm.

“He’s just banged up a little bit,” Philadelphia Flyers coach John Tortorella. When asked if Konecny will practice Monday, Tortorella said: “Probably not. We’ll give him another day.”

Tortorella wouldn’t say whether the injury was upper-body or lower-body, the normal hockey parlance.

“It’s a body injury,” Tortorella said.

Konecny has formed what looks like a first line at training camp with Sean Couturier and Owen Tippett. The Flyers have participated in spirited scrimmages the past few days in preparation for the season. Couturier has returned after missing all of last season and most of the previous season.

The Flyers open their preseason schedule at 7 p.m. Monday against the New Jersey Devils at the Prudential Center in Newark (no TV, but the game will be on 97.5 The Fanatic). The group of players going to New Jersey will be announced Monday morning.

The game group will skate at Voorhees at 10 a.m. before departing for Newark. One non-game group will practice at 10 a.m. and the other at 11 a.m. Practices are free and open to the public.
