Remember that one time when Jaromir Jagr played for the Philadelphia Flyers? That was a long time ago, wasn’t it? Well, as it turns out, Jagr is still playing.

At the age of 51, Jagr started his 36th season of professional hockey by making his season debut for Rytíři Kladno in the Czech Extraliga. For those who might not know, Jagr has been the majority owner of Kladno since 2011, and has now played games for them in each of the last seven seasons with them. Former Philadelphia Flyers star Jakub Voracek also works for Kladno, serving as an assistant coach.

In the clip above, Jagr receives a breakout pass, gains the offensive zone, and cuts to the inside like he’s done so many times in his storied playing career. Jagr earns his assisted after his blistering shot – originally stopped by the Pardubice goaltender – bounced out in front for a teammate to deposit into a yawning cage.

The former Flyers forward’s final stat line for the game was one assist, two shots on goal, two penalty minutes, and a plus-1 rating in 13:52 of ice time.

Flyers reunite at Kladno

Jagr played for the Philadelphia Flyers for one season, back in 2011-12. That year, he scored 19 goals, 35 assists, and 54 points in 73 games, and added one goal, seven assists, and eight points in 11 playoff games. It was that season when Jagr played alongside his new coach Voracek; each player’s first season in Philadelphia.

Voracek last played for the Flyers in the 2020-21 season, where he recorded nine goals, 34 assists, and 43 points in 53 games. The following season, he was traded to the Columbus Blue Jackets for Cam Atkinson. Voracek lasted one full season there, plus 11 games last season, before his playing days unofficially ended. The 34-year-old was open to a return to playing, but that hasn’t come to fruition.

Now, he gets to coach one of the greatest hockey players to ever live.
