In Wednesday’s edition of Bailey’s Daily, we’ll be talking the latest Philadelphia Flyers news, NHL news, stories, highlights, and more from the last day.

Flyers News

  • Thud. With that 9-3 loss to Montreal, the Philadelphia Flyers‘ 2023-24 season is more or less over. Three games remain, but given the team’s recent stretch of play, playoffs are no longer a possibility.
  • In some better news, 2023 seventh-round pick Matteo Mann has joined the Flyers organization, linking up with the ECHL’s Reading Royals on tryout for the rest of this season.
  • On Monday, the Flyers signed an underrated Swedish prospect in Oscar Eklind. The hulking winger hails from the SHL and has played with Olle Lycksell in the past.
  • A few hours before that, Flyers head coach John Tortorella admitted the team had summer discussions about Carter Hart and a potential legal situation popping up involving him.
  • In case you missed it, Carolina signed prospect Gleb Trikozov, and that means only good things for the Flyers, Matvei Michkov, and the rest of the league.

NHL News from National Hockey Now

  • In a 9-3 pasting of Philadelphia, Montreal Canadiens youngster Juraj Slafkovsky scored his first NHL hat trick, needing just two periods to do so.
  • In some less fortunate news, New Jersey Devils superstar Jack Hughes will undergo season-ending surgery after attempting to fight through a shoulder injury to try and guide his team to the Stanley Cup playoffs.
  • You know it’s special when you impress yourself; Colorado Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon breaks down his 50th goal this season, which was his first time hitting that mark.
  • The Flyers can’t feel too bad, right? The Detroit Red Wings also played a must-win game on Tuesday, but Washington was able to emerge with a decisive 2-1 win that has massive playoff implications.
  • Surprise, surprise: Alexander Ovechkin set another record on Tuesday night, and of course it’s related to his goal-scoring prowess.
