Enjoy: Flyers prospect Elliot Desnoyers records 3rd hat trick this season
The Philadelphia Flyers’ 2020 draft picks are off to roaring starts. While first-round pick Tyson Foerster and fourth-round pick Zayde Wisdom are impressing in the AHL, it’s a later-round pick that is showing off in the QMJHL. Fifth-round pick (135th overall) Elliot Desnoyers had his third hat trick of the season on Thursday night. This one was a natural hat trick.
Zayde Wisdom scores team-leading seventh goal in Phantoms loss
Desnoyers had three goals on seven shots and was a +4 in the Halifax Mooseheads’ 6-1 win over the Cape Breton Eagles.
His first goal wasn’t initially credited to him. Desnoyers got the puck behind the net and sent it in front, where it bounced home to break a 1-1 tie midway through the second period.
There was no doubt that Desnoyers scored his next two goals, though.
His second goal was a snipe from the slot. Desnoyers received the puck in the circle, skated around the top and into the slot before firing home a shot to give Halifax a 3-1 lead.
A pretty nice shot by Elliot Desnoyers.
So, his first goal was a bit lucky and his second showed off some of his skill, but his third goal was a thing of beauty.
Zachary L’Heureux, a draft-eligible prospect this season, made a nice play at his own blue line while shorthanded. He got the puck to Desnoyers and the Flyers prospect did the rest.
Elliot Desnoyers sped past the defense and made a nice move to beat the netminder.
That’s some speed and a great set of hands right there.
Just like that, Desnoyers had his third hat trick of the season. He couldn’t make it a four-goal game, however, which he was able to do in his two other games. Still, a hat trick isn’t too shabby.

Desnoyers now has 43 points (20 goals, 23 assists) in 33 games this season. That ranks him third in the league in points and tied for the fourth-most goals in the QMJHL.
He now has at least one point in seven of his last eight games and eight of his last 10 games. In his last 10 games, Desnoyers has eight goals and eight assists for 16 points. Looking at an even shorter span, Desnoyers has five goals and six assists for 11 points in his last five games. The kid is on fire.
The Flyers 2020 NHL Draft class is off to a great start.
