Defenseman Ivan Provorov says he is grateful the Philadelphia Flyers drafted him in 2015, and his loyalty remains with them.

He knows his name is swirling in trade rumors, but he hopes to remain with the Flyers. He has endured many playoff-less years, and he wants to be around when the team is a contender.

If Provorov is on the trade block, we wonder if Pittsburgh general manager Ron Hextall would come calling when he gets enough cap space. That probably wouldn’t happen until after the season.

Hextall was the Flyers’ GM when they drafted Provorov No. 7 overall in 2015.

Right now, the Penguins may be exploring a third-line center because former Flyer Jeff Carter appears to be fading.
