(UPDATE: The Flyers are expected to give an update on Konecny’s condition on Thursday, according to a team spokesman.)

Travis Konecny, the Philadelphia Flyers’ star right winger, was injured late in the second period and did not return to action Monday in Calgary.

Earlier in the game, Konecny scored his team-high 27th goal and added an assist in what turned into a 4-3 Flyers victory. He leads the Flyers with 54 points.

With a little over six minutes left in the second period, Konecny was injured when he was on the receiving end of MacKenzie Weegar’s check near the boards. He went to the locker room to be checked.

No penalty was called.

Philadelphia Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher said it was an upper-body injury and he was “unlikely” to return to return to the game.

After the game, Flyers coach John Tortorella had no further update.

It seems unlikely that Konecny, who held his elbow after the hit, will play Tuesday in Edmonton.

Early in the third period, defenseman Ivan Provorov was injured when checked into the boards by Elias Lindholm. Provorov returned to the game.

Konecny, 25, has rediscovered his scoring touch. After going 13 straight games without a goal, he has scored three times over the first three games of the road trip.

Tortorella liked the grit the Flyers displayed in the victory.

“I just thought we really played hard,” he said. “We have a shortened bench. We lose TK — a really big loss for us in the middle of the type of game like that. Basically, we went with three lines. We bent, found some footing, grinded away, and found a way to win.”

Tortorella said it’s “self explanatory” what Konecny means to the Flyers.

“He’s found his game,” Tortorella said. “He’s been a very active player for us.”

Konecny scored two goals in the first game of the road trip, a 6-2 loss in Seattle. He then had 13 shots attempts, including seven on goal, in a 6-2 defeat in Vancouver.
