Flyers’ Laughton on Briere: ‘Perfect Guy for the Job’
Based on a sampling of players, the Philadelphia Flyers want Danny Briere to be their permanent general manager.
“He’s put in the work,” Scott Laughton, the Flyers’ unofficial captain, said after Monday’s practice in Voorhees, “and he’s a perfect guy for the job.”
“I’m really happy for Danny,” defenseman Tony DeAngelo said. “I think he’s more than ready for the job, more than capable of doing the job.”
DeAngelo said he was “disappointed” Chuck Fletcher was fired, and that “things would have been a little different” if there weren’t so many injuries in recent years.
“But on the other side, Danny is a great guy. Great Flyer. It’ll be good to see him get a chance to do the job here,” DeAngelo said. “Hopefully, the interim tag comes off pretty quick, and I’m looking forward to see what he does.”
Briere has worked personally with several Flyers, including Travis Konecny, a winger he pushed to play more to the inside.
