Players from Team Canada’s 2018 World Juniors are ineligible to play in the 2023 IIHF Men’s World Hockey Championship, according to a decision made by Hockey Canada.

Hockey Canada made the statement Monday to TSN, saying no one can play until an investigation is completed.

Philadelphia Flyers goalie Carter Hart and Colorado defenseman Cale Makar are among the 17 current NHL players who are not permitted to play.

The 2023 Men’s Worlds will be played in Finland and Latvia from May 12-28.

The players’ ineligibility stems from a London Police Services filing, saying it had reasonable grounds to believe five members of the 2018 World Junior team sexually assaulted a woman after a fund-raising event.

None of the allegations have been proven in court, and the players claim that any sexual contact was consensual.

Through his attorney, Hart last July said he wasn’t involved in the alleged incident.
