Flyers Sign Free-Agent Forward Garnet Hathaway

The Philadelphia Flyers announced the signing of free-agent forward Garnet Hathaway late Saturday night.

Hathaway signed a two-year, $4.75 million contract, according to general manager Daniel Briere.

Hathaway, 31, finished last season in the playoffs with the Bruins. He was traded to Boston from Washington as part of a three-team deal with Minnesota on Feb. 23.

With the Bruins, Hathaway scored four goals and two assists in 25 games. He had one assist in seven Boston playoff games. He is 6-foot-3, 208 pounds.

Before the trade to Boston, Hathaway played 59 games with the Capitals and scored nine goals and seven assists. He spent five seasons in the American Hockey League (2013-18) and scored 46 goals and 50 assists.

Hathaway has played 457 NHL games over eight seasons. He has 58 career goals and 64 assists. He is a plus-53 and has 490 penalty minutes.

He is from Kennebunkport, Maine, and played four seasons at Brown University, where he was an alternate captain his junior and senior seasons.
