When you read about the NHL this month, there is emphasis on the NHL Network’s lists.

The top centers, the top defensemen, the top wingers — all have been categorized and published.

The Philadelphia Flyers aren’t on those lists. Those lists are for established NHL stars, players who have produced in the league. Players who have demonstrated they are among the very best to be playing right now.

The Flyers just don’t have those types of elite players.

NHL Network also has published its top 50 prospects list — along with other media outlets. It’s there that the Flyers are well represented. Matvei Michkov was fourth and Cutter Gauthier was ninth. Tyson Foerster was 49th.

That’s where the Flyers are. That’s where a rebuilding team is, where the starting point is. They have prospects in the pipeline.

The Flyers, and their fans, hope those top prospects make the top players lists in time.
