According to multiple reports, the Philadelphia Flyers have acquired winger Denis Gurianov from the Nashville Predators in exchange for winger Wade Allison.

Gurianov, 26, is a Russian forward originally drafted 12th overall by the Dallas Stars in the 2015 NHL Draft. He was in his first season with the Predators, scoring one goal, one assists, and two points in 12 games.

Gurianov’s best season in the NHL came in the 2021-22 season, when he scored 11 goals, 20 assists, and 31 points in 73 games despite receiving bottom-six minutes on the Stars. Last season, Gurianov’s ice time decreased greatly and he was subsequently moved to the Montreal Canadiens.

If or when he joins up with the Flyers, Gurianov will be playing on his fourth team in two years.

Allison, of course, established himself as a full-time NHLer last season with the Flyers, but was unable to retain his place on the NHL roster this season. The 26-year-old appeared in 60 games for the Flyers last season, scoring nine goals, six assists, and 15 points in fourth-line minutes for the big club.

Allison finishes his Flyers career with 13 goals, nine assists, and 22 points in 75 games.

A Flyers forward of three seasons, Allison lost out on a roster spot this season in favor of rookies like Tyson Foerster, Bobby Brink, and Emil Andrae, although Foerster is the only one of those three who has managed to stick in the lineup consistently.

It remains to be seen whether Gurianov will have a place on the Flyers’ roster or gets assigned to the AHL to take Allison’s spot with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Gurianov is a fast and talented player, as is Allison, who has struggled a lot with injuries in the last few years.
