In Saturday’s edition of Bailey’s Daily, we’ll be talking the latest Philadelphia Flyers news, NHL news, stories, highlights, and more from the last day.

Flyers News

  • Very quietly, Ryan Johansen is actually on the Philadelphia Flyers’ NHL roster. Why? His mystery injury is preventing the team from doing anything with him while he plays hardball.
  • The Flyers have been on the receiving end of two blowouts in the last week, and their lackluster performances are starting to reflect poorly on Sam Ersson, the rookie goalie given the unenviable task of keeping the season alive.
  • But, what is really going on with the Flyers these days? They are certainly in trouble with their upcoming schedule, but it is not the end of the world just yet.
  • Speaking of the upcoming Flyers schedule, their season officially starts now. It is, without a doubt, crunch time in South Philadelphia.
  • Is Cam York the NHL’s most underrated defenseman? The 23-year-old has blown away his peers whilst handling top minutes and top competition in his first full year in the NHL.

NHL News from National Hockey Now

  • Montreal Canadiens prospect David Reinbacher could join up with the organization in Canada now that his season in Switzerland is – mercifully – over.
  • The Pittsburgh Penguins are getting a much-needed shot in the arm on the blueline; defenseman Jack St. Ivany has been promoted to the big club with a golden chance to make it count.
  • According to a report, it was only a matter of time before the Colorado Avalanche lost Bowen Byram; the team always planned on trading him.
  • Yeah, the Chicago Blackhawks might have gotten blown out, but promising young prospect Landon Slaggert made his NHL debut against the Los Angeles Kings on Friday night.
  • It’s been a while since we heard about Buffalo Sabres rookie Zach Benson, but the diminutive winger was dominant in Buffalo’s huge win over the New York Islanders on Thursday night.

Sounds like you don’t believe Johansen is injured and he’s playing hardball, but what do you think he wants? He could always enter the player assistance program under mental health (no NHL team wanting him or his contract), get paid, get bought out in the offseason, and play for the league minimum next season with a team of his choosing.

Even if you’re 100% correct about the mystery injury, the man (or his agent) knows how to play the game. He was traded to a team where the GM doesn’t want him, the coach doesn’t like him, the team despises his agent, he’s going to get buried in the minors, and there’s nothing he can do about it. You say your hip hurts, that’s not fair!

Actually started on Thursday with a dismal performance, Management did nothing to help this present team except get a future asset and lots of $$ against the cap for next season kicking the rebuild further down the road. Sam is a one legged man in an ass-kicking contest. No backup at this point.i like the core of this group but they’ll just have to gut it out.
