Zayde Wisdom

It’s looking like the Philadelphia Flyers made at least one wise pick in last year’s draft. 2020 fourth-round pick Zayde Wisdom scored his first professional goal in a three-point game last Sunday and he stayed hot Saturday night.

Zayde Wisdom scores first AHL goal in three-point game

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms hosted the Binghamton Devils at the PPL Center on Saturday night. It was the first game at the PPL Center this season and there were some fans in attendance.

The Phantoms shut out the Devils 3-0 and Wisdom had a heavy hand in that. He finished the night with a pair of goals, including the eventual game-winning goal.

He also had some pretty good play-driving numbers, per Brad Keffer of PhancyStats.

Wisdom now has five points (four goals, two assists) in his last two games. His four goals have him in a six-way tie for the third-most goals in the AHL.

Let’s get to his great performance on Saturday night.

Wisdom opened the scoring in front of the net with a hard-nosed goal.

He jammed the puck through the goalie and made sure it went over the line.

But he wasn’t done there.

Wisdom showed off his shot in the second period. He went to work with the Phantoms on the power play.

The Phantoms were able to get set up in the zone and Wisdom finished off a passing play with a one-timer from the slot.

A few nice passes and Wisdom slammed it home.

Wisdom is on fire.

Zayde Wisdom now has two goals in back-to-back games. He’s been making an impact for the Phantoms, and he wasn’t even supposed to be playing in the AHL this season.

At just 18 years old, Wisdom should be playing for the Kingston Frontenacs in the OHL. He had 59 points (29 goals, 30 assists) in 62 OHL games last season. However, due to COVID, Wisdom is getting his first taste of professional hockey and he’s devouring the competition.

Hopefully, Wisdom can keep this up. Well, a two-goal-per-game pace isn’t exactly sustainable, but hopefully, Wisdom can continue to look right at home in the AHL.

The Phantoms will next play on Wednesday against the Binghamton Devils in Newark.
