Flyers Sign Defensemen Ronnie Attard, Victor Mete

The Philadelphia Flyers signed defensemen Ronnie Attard and Victor Mete, the team announced Wednesday.

Attard, 24, is coming off an appearance on Team USA’s World Championship team that made the final four. He had 12 goals and 20 assists in 68 games with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms last season.

Attard has two goals and two assists in 17 career games with the Flyers over two seasons. He played two games with the Flyers this past season.

The 6-foot-3, 208-pounder led Phantoms defensemen in scoring and tied for first among league defensemen in goals and game-winning goals. He played three seasons at Western Michigan and scored 70 points in 91 games. He was a third-round draft pick (72nd overall) in 2019.

Mete, 25, comes from the Toronto organization. He spent time with the Maple Leafs and the AHL Marlies last season. He had two assists in 11 games with the Maple Leafs. The 5-9, 187-pounder has played 247 NHL games over six seasons with Montreal, Ottawa and Toronto. He was a fourth-round pick (100th overall) by the Canadiens in the 2016 draft.

Attard’s contract is a two-year, two-way/one-way deal for $1.7 million ($850,000 annual average value). Mete’s deal is a one-year, two-way contract for $775,000.
