Philadelphia Flyers prospect Alex Bump will transfer to Western Michigan University, according to a post on his Instagram account.

Bump entered the transfer portal just two weeks ago. He was going to play at the University of Vermont before the Catamounts fired their coach.

A spokesperson for Western Michigan said in an email reply: “We can’t comment on student-athletes until they are officially enrolled in classes.”

Western Michigan, located in Kalamazoo, plays in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference. Flyers president Keith Jones played at Western Michigan.

Bump, 19, a forward, has played the last two seasons in the United States Hockey League. He is from Prior Lake, Minn., a Minneapolis suburb.

Bump, a 2022 fifth-round draft choice (133rd overall), played well in the Flyers Development Camp scrimmage. He scored the winning goal in a shootout in the scrimmage.
