In Wednesday’s edition of Bailey’s Daily, we’ll be talking Philadelphia Flyers news, stories, highlights, and more from the past few days.

Flyers news

  • The Philadelphia Flyers lost another close, winnable game, this time at the hands of the lowly Columbus Blue Jackets. It’s bad news for the Flyers, who have one win in their last seven games. [Flyers recap]
  • That Travis Konecny guy was named an NHL All-Star for the second time in his career. Oh, and he reached the 20-goal mark for the Flyers on Thursday night with two goals against Columbus. [Travis Konecny]
  • Flyers prospect Matvei Michkov gave an interview with MatchTV, and talked about a variety of different topics. One of them was whether he could bolt for the NHL early. Michkov didn’t say yes, but he didn’t say no either. [Matvei Michkov]
  • PhHN+: Sean Couturier has been about as good as the Flyers could have asked for after nearly two years out of hockey. Are they a lottery team without him? The numbers suggest it’s possible. [Sean Couturier]
  • Cutter Gauthier and Team USA survived an early scare from Finland on Thursday and will move on to the Gold Medal Game against Sweden on Friday at 1:30 p.m.

NHL news from National Hockey Now

  • Speaking of Team USA, it was San Jose Sharks prospect Will Smith’s hustle that proved to be the catalyst to staying alive against Finland. [San Jose Sharks]
    • In addition, it looks like Sharks captain Logan Couture is finally going to make his return from a long-term injury.
  • The Boston Bruins went down three goals to the Pittsburgh Penguins, then they came back. Then they lost, 6-5. Hey, at least David Pastrnak got some good news, having been named an NHL All-Star. [Boston Bruins]
  • Kind of like Travis Konecny, Colorado Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon was named an All-Star and then scored a wicked goal for his squad. [Colorado Avalanche]
  • After setting another franchise record, Florida Panthers captain Sasha Barkov left the game against the Vegas Golden Knights early with an injury. [Florida Panthers]
  • The Detroit Red Wings, like the Flyers, are in a major rut at the moment. Five Red Wings, in particular, need to kick it into high gear. [Detroit Red Wings]
  • The New Jersey Devils are still searching for goaltending, but would a buy-low option like Kaapo Kahkonen make any sense? [New Jersey Devils]
