In Wednesday’s edition of Bailey’s Daily, we’ll be talking the latest Philadelphia Flyers news, stories, highlights, and more from the last day, including Jamie Drysdale’s first day on the job.

Flyers news

  • Flyers Notebook: Jamie Drysdale took a 5:45 a.m. flight out of Nashville to arrive in Philadelphia, then took part in his first practice as a Flyers player at noon. The 21-year-old’s arrival gave the defense an entirely new look, and some friends offered their thoughts on Drysdale as a player and as a person. [Flyers Notebook]
  • With Drysdale now with the Flyers and with the Flyers having no outgoing players, they’re carrying eight defensemen. Nick Seeler, Rasmus Ristolainen, and Sean Walker have all been reported to be highly sought-after assets on the NHL trade market. Is another move on the cards? [Flyers news]
  • After the trade was announced, GM Danny Briere exposed Cutter Gauthier and his increasingly phony behavior as the reason behind such a jaw-dropping trade. [Cutter Gauthier]
  • And while all of that was going on, the Flyers were playing a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins! They lost, though, and it wasn’t pretty. [Flyers recap]

NHL News from National Hockey Now

  • The Boston Bruins have lost each of their last two games, 4-3 in a shootout and then overtime, and now they figure to be without rookie star Matt Poitras and Vezina Trophy winner Linus Ullmark. [Boston Bruins]
  • Is Jack Quinn the man to save the Buffalo Sabres’ season? The early results and underlying offensive numbers support the possibility. [Buffalo Sabres]
  • The New Jersey Devils did finally make some call-ups to replace a few injured players, but their top prospects wound up staying put. [New Jersey Devils]
  • The Detroit Red Wings have very quietly been riding a former Flyers goalie to winter success in their last few games. [Detroit Red Wings]
