Philadelphia Flyers news

The Philadelphia Flyers are just over halfway through their 2023-24 campaign, and although only some NHL teams have surpassed their halfway mark, it’s time for Flyers grades. Philadelphia is comfortably in a playoff spot in the middle of January, boasting an impressive 54 points by way of their 24-14-6 record. The Flyers are in second place in the Metropolitan Division and ninth place in the entire NHL. So far, it’s safe to say they’ve smashed all previously existing expectations for them this season.

A lot of the Flyers’ success stems from roster turnover; the fresh faces have helped create a locker room that head coach John Tortorella constantly raves about. So, despite Philadelphia not being the most talented team in their division, they win with discipline, heart, and effort, mixed with their skills. Perhaps most importantly, the Flyers have finally found a goaltending tandem that they can turn to in any game or situation. Some credit goes to Tortorella for finding ways to get the most out of his guys, and some goes to general manager Danny Briere for showing his confidence in both players throughout the summer.

Now, let’s hand out some grades.
