Flyers Recall Bobby Brink; Rasmus Ristolainen Placed on IR
The Philadelphia Flyers announced Tuesday morning that forward Bobby Brink was recalled from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms (AHL).
In a corresponding move, the Flyers placed defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen (upper-body) on injured reserve.
Ristolainen, 29, has been out since the Feb. 10 game against the Seattle Kraken. He is reportedly expected to undergo a minor procedure and be reevaluated shortly thereafter.
Brink, 22, has not played for the Flyers since Jan. 15; the Flyers are 6-8-1 since he was removed from their lineup. The Minnetonka, MN native has managed 18 points in 38 games in Philadelphia so far this season. During his month-long stint with the Phantoms, Brink scored six goals, five assists, and 11 points in 11 games played.
Brink was riding a four-game point streak prior to his call-up, which is highlighted by a two-goal, one-assist performance in a 6-5 overtime win over the Charlotte Checkers. Fellow Flyers call-up Olle Lycksell assisted Brink’s game-winner in the overtime victory.
In terms of other Flyers injury updates, there aren’t any. All-Star forward Travis Konecny (upper-body) has not seen his status change over the weekend, and we might get some clarity later in the week. After Tuesday night’s game against the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Flyers will have played three games in four days. In other words, they haven’t had much time to make a meaningful evaluation.
Defenseman Jamie Drysdale is reportedly week-to-week with an upper-body injury, but there are no guarantees that his season is not over. Drysdale suffered what appeared to be a shoulder injury on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Penguins after taking a hard hit in the neutral zone from Pittsburgh winger Jansen Harkins. Drysdale got up and off the ice pretty quickly, but was clearly favoring his left shoulder and, obviously, did not return to that game.

Walker and Seeler will not be traded. With Risto and Drysdale both questionable to return, trading one or both of the pair will crush the teams chances of making the playoffs. Staal will be traded to a contender as a depth piece. They can’t afford to lose 4 or 5 of their defensemen via injury and trade.
They should however try to get an upgrade over Peterson on the cheap if at all possible.
