PhHN Daily: Flyers Trade Talk; Sabres’ GM Fired; Bedard Injury Update
The Philadelphia Flyers are still on the road, as they get set to face off with an Eastern Conference rival.
Sticking with the Flyers, they had interest in trading for Quinn Hughes but never really put forward a genuine offer, unwilling to part with the prospects requested by Vancouver. But does that mean the Flyers won’t make a trade?
Around the league, one team fired its general manager after what feels like a year of speculation, if not longer. We also get an update on the injury of one of the league’s brightest stars. Lastly, a look at one of the biggest obstacles in one team’s pursuit of Quinn Hughes, and what they are trying to do to fix it.
Get it all on the 12/16 edition of the PhHN Daily.
Philadelphia Flyers
Philly Hockey Now: So, no Quinn Hughes for the Flyers. That does not mean there are no options left for Philly to bolster its blueline. *Willie Nelson voice* On the road again… the Flyers play game two of their four-game road trip, this one in Montreal against the Canadiens. The last time out, the two teams exchanged heavy scoring periods, with an unlikely hero tying the game for Philly late. Philadelphia left Montreal with a win the first time around. How will game two fare for the team in orange and black?
NHL rumors & news
ESPN: The Buffalo Sabres have fired general manager Kevyn Adams after what has been a pretty disappointing tenure. Jarmo Kekalainen will take over, becoming the first GM hired by Buffalo with experience since Scotty Bowman.

While it’s not the best news, “It could have been worse,” said Blackhawks bench boss Jeff Blashill.
New Jersey Hockey Now: The New Jersey Devils were one of many teams in hot pursuit of Quinn Hughes before he was eventually dealt to the Minnesota Wild. One of the main obstacles: bad contracts. James Nichols writes the latest on New Jersey shopping for those hard-to-deal contracts.
