The Philadelphia Flyers (10-14-7) will attempt to win their second game in a row for the first time since Nov. 5 and 8. The scrapping Flyers will host the New York Rangers (16-10-5) at the Wells Fargo Center on Saturday.

The puck drops just after 7 p.m., and Lauren Hart belts out the anthem.

It won’t be easy. The Rangers have a five-game winning streak and are keeping pace with the red-hot Pittsburgh Penguins and division-leading New Jersey Devils.

The Rangers have been on a roll lately. They’re coming off a 3-1 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Jimmy Vesey scored twice as New York handed Toronto its first regulation loss in 16 games.

The Flyers beat the Devils on Thursday night and snapped their four-game losing streak. Carter Hart made 48 saves, while Travis Konecny scored the game-winning goal off a Damon Severson turnover.

Scott Laughton scored a power-play goal to tie the game in the second.

Special teams have been better as of late but Laughton believes they can do more.

“You see all the good power plays, their faceoff plays, they have things they do off it. So we’ve got to continue to try and get better at that and continue zone time,” said Laughton.

The Devils controlled a majority of the game, certainly opposite of when these two faced off previously. Despite being outshot, John Tortorella was happy with how the team played in the final period to secure the win.

“I liked the way we played in our end zone.” Tortorella said. “I thought we filled the middle there. I didn’t like our play in the neutral zone, where they kept coming at us. But I thought we did some really good things as far as the stick on the puck, trying to control them as best we can.”

PHN: Travis Konecny Tries to Continue Hot Streak

This will be the first matchup between the Flyers and Rangers since a 1-0 goaltending duel on Nov. 1.  Igor Shesterkin made 19 saves, while Chris Kreider scored the only goal of the game with 53 seconds remaining in overtime.

The focus for the Philadelphia Flyers will be simple: to score. Shesterkin has been in net for all five games of the Rangers’ winning streak while giving up one goal in three of the wins.
