You can stand under my umbrella, ell… oh wait, we started? Philadelphia Flyers prospect Matvei Michkov scored again, as if that was any surprise, and then came up with a few more highlight reel plays as the game continued. One of which happened to take place with Rihanna’s 2007 smash hit “Umbrella” playing in the background. Really!

Above is the Flyers draft pick’s goal against Metallurg Magnitogorsk, where he shows a little bit of defensive prowess and hockey IQ on the play. Michkov trails the forecheck as his two teammates corner the opposing puck carrier in the trapezoid. Once the puck squirts out in front of the net, Michkov is Johnny-on-the-spot, winning the 50/50 puck battle before catching the goalie off guard with a quick turnaround shot. The future Flyers star’s goal doubled HK Sochi’s lead to 2-0 with a few minutes remaining in the first period.

Later in the game, Michkov also attempted The Michigan from behind the net but narrowly missed the mark. Rookie sensation Connor Bedard scored on this move not too long ago, and Trevor Zegras has also done this plenty of times throughout his short career. Intuition says Michkov will still be doing this once he joins the Flyers in a few years’ time. Then there’s the moment you’ve all been waiting for: Michkov turns his game up a gear with Rihanna playing in the background.

Yeah, Michkov didn’t score, but it was still a nasty play all around. Defensemen are sliding all over the place, goalies are quaking in their skates, and opposing coaches are headbutting walls: this is defending Matvei Michkov. Then there was the drive to the net and the shot from between the legs to try and catch Metallurg’s goalie by surprise; the Flyers don’t currently have a single guy who does these kinds of things regularly.

Now that it’s raining more than ever, know that the Flyers and Michkov will still have each other.
