In Monday’s edition of Bailey’s Daily, we’ll be talking the latest Philadelphia Flyers news, stories, highlights, and more from the last day.

Flyers News

  • Remember the idea that the Philadelphia Flyers could trade for Trevor Zegras? Well, some I found some old comments made by John Tortorella, and it seems like the wily veteran coach is quietly a fan of the Anaheim Ducks star’s game.
  • Cam Atkinson just snapped a 26-game goal drought to spur Philadelphia on to their third win in a row.
    • They’ll be aiming for four with the upcoming Flyers game against the St. Louis Blues.
  • PhHN+: Jamie Drysdale, Zegras’s best friend, has been assigned a deprecated role in the Flyers’ defense. For more on the ‘rover’ position, Drysdale’s role, and Tortorella’s history of using it, consider subscribing to National Hockey Now for more stories like this across the network.
  • ICYMI: Flyers GM Danny Briere reportedly asked for Bowen Byram from the Colorado Avalanche in a potential Cutter Gauthier trade.

NHL News from National Hockey Now

  • The New Jersey Devils got some bad news on Saturday: the price for Calgary Flames goaltender Jacob Markstrom is very high after the Swede’s remarkable rebound in form.
  • FHN+: Carter Verhaeghe was already a solid player for the Florida Panthers, but over the last seasons, ‘Mr. Clutch’ has developed into an elite scorer, too.
  • The Pittsburgh Penguins got their midseason report card, and there’s some good, some bad, and some ugly.
  • Colorado Avalanche prospect and preseason standout Maros Jedlicka is back skating in his native Slovakia after suffering a major injury and undergoing surgery.
  • Montreal Canadiens prospects Owen Beck and David Reinbacher are having polar opposite second halves of their seasons, and it shows why context and critical thinking are important when judging young players.
