In Saturday’s edition of Bailey’s Daily, we’ll be talking the latest Philadelphia Flyers news, NHL news, stories, highlights, and more from the last day.

Flyers News

  • Philadelphia Flyers general manager Danny Briere said the club would try to trade Ryan Johansen before the NHL trade deadline, but it never happened. Now what?
  • In a move straight out of left field, the Flyers traded winger Wade Allison to Nashville in exchange for Denis Gurianov.
  • For those who are not familiar with Denis Gurianov, he’s an “interesting” winger with a surprisingly strong playoff pedigree; Briere said so himself.
  • For their last trade of the afternoon, the Flyers acquired Erik Johnson from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for a 2024 fourth-round pick.
  • How did the Flyers do in the Erik Johnson trade? Though many are upset about moving a decent pick for an older player, Briere and the Flyers got exactly what they wanted, and that’s good enough for us.

NHL News from National Hockey Now

  • The Montreal Canadiens were mostly quiet during the NHL trade deadline, but fortunately, doing the Sean Monahan trade early has paid off big time for them.
  • After shipping Tyler Toffoli off to the Winnipeg Jets, New Jersey Devils general manager Tom Fitzgerald left the door open for the 31-year-old to return to Newark in the summer.
  • Perhaps strangely, the Colorado Avalanche decided not to make a move for a backup goaltender at the deadline; can the up-and-down Alexandar Georgiev hold down the fort come playoff time?
  • Mostly viewed as a throw-in in the Yakov Trenin trade, new Nashville Predators prospect Jeremy Hanzel has proven – more than once in his career – why he shouldn’t be slept on.
  • In what was easily the craziest move of the NHL trade deadline, the Vegas Golden Knights picked up Tomas Hertl from the San Jose Sharks.
