In Tuesday’s edition of Bailey’s Daily, we’ll be talking the latest Philadelphia Flyers news, NHL news, stories, highlights, and more from the last day.

Flyers News

The talk of the town this week is the latest Philadelphia Flyers odds for the upcoming 2024 NHL Draft Lottery, which takes place on May 7 at 6:30 p.m. They are one of the likeliest teams to stay put, but never say never.

Trade speculation has run wild after Mitchell Marner and his Toronto Maple Leafs were unceremoniously bounced in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs once again. We all know the Flyers need to add star talent, but this won’t be the way to do it. Not yet, anyway.

Speaking of that, Flyers general manager Danny Briere has maintained his steadfast commitment to doing the rebuild the right way, or whatever synonymous buzzword(s) you want to insert as a replacement. “We still need to add more talent,” Briere said this weekend.

Briere and the Flyers might also want to take some lessons from their rivals, the Pittsburgh Penguins, after they fired associate coach Todd Reirden this weekend. Reirden guided the Pens to the third-worst power play in the NHL, and that was enough for them to make changes. The standards in Philadelphia could and should be higher.

In case you missed it, Flyers goalie prospect Egor Zavragin was traded to SKA St. Petersburg at the end of the week, and the Flyers should be elated, quite frankly.

NHL News from National Hockey Now

The Boston Bruins managed to win Game 1 of their second round series against the Florida Panthers, but one veteran NHL scout doesn’t think the Bs can stick it out with the Cats and go the distance in a rematch of last year’s first round matchup. The scout also offered a prediction on this series, which could very well still come true.

According to a report, New Jersey Devils interim head coach Travis Green is the favorite to take over as head coach of the Ottawa Senators.

With the 2024 NHL Draft lottery only a few hours away now, there are a few rule changes that benefit the Montreal Canadiens, potentially giving the Flyers some added competition in future years. Hint: both teams should be hoping the Chicago Blackhawks win the No. 1 overall pick again.

The Colorado Avalanche have been done with their pre-scouting process of the Dallas Stars for several days now, but what should the team and fans expect in this series? Fireworks, lots of defense, and everything in between. And bad camera angles.
