In Thursday’s edition of Bailey’s Daily, we’ll be talking the latest Philadelphia Flyers news, NHL news, stories, highlights, and more from the last day.

Flyers News

Philadelphia Flyers rookies Ivan Fedotov and Matvei Michkov were one of the many NHL rookies stopping by the NHLPA’s Upper Deck Rookie Showcase on Wednesday, meeting up with the likes of Seamus Casey, Will Smith, Cutter Gauthier, and other supremely talented players.

The NHL gave us a look at Fedotov’s new goalie mask design, slated to be on his bucket this year, around the same time the Rookie Showcase was going on.

I’m personally a big fan of the design. There’s a lot of Philadelphia in there, and Fedotov has some callbacks to Russia, too. Even though he went through hell to get to North America to start his NHL career with the Flyers, Fedotov has always said that he’s Russian (was born in Finland, technically) and is proud to be Russian.

It seems like people are down on the 27-year-old after a weak showing when the Flyers were playing their worst hockey of the year by far; I think Fedotov has a strong season in store for us. Let’s see what happens.

NHL News

Future San Jose Sharks star Macklin Celebrini grew up in the Bay Area, but as he embarks on his pro career in the NHL, he’ll have other living arrangements in mind.

Sharks legend and future Hockey Hall of Famer Joe Thornton will be housing the 18-year-old for the 2024-25 season, causing some Sharks fans to recall the time goalie Kelly Hrudey played host to a young Patrick Marleau.

Well, 1,607 games later and 1,111 points later, I think it is safe to say that things worked out well for the Sharks and Marleau. They’re aiming to recreate that same magic with Thornton and Celebrini, a player who they hope will be emblematic of the Sharks franchise for many years to come.
