Flyers Game
Flyers @ Kraken Preview: Luchanko Sticks, Fedotov Returns
Mercifully concluding a season-opening four-game road trip across two Canadian provinces and one West Coast state, the Philadelphia Flyers travel to Seattle, Wa., to face the Seattle Kraken at 10 p.m. at Climate Pledge Arena on Thursday night .
Through three games, the Flyers are 1-1-1, stealing a shootout win from Vancouver, falling flat against Calgary, and self-immolating in overtime after leading for most of the game against Connor McDavid and Edmonton.
With a win on Thursday night, the Flyers can turn an average road trip into a great one, especially given the challenging circumstances with travel and time zone changes.
For the most part, they will be relying on tired legs to make it happen.

How to watch the Flyers game
Fans can watch the Flyers game on NBC Sports Philadelphia, and those who are unable to watch the game can listen on 97.5 The Fanatic and Flyers Radio 24/7.
Goalie Ivan Fedotov will make his second start of the season, spelling starter Sam Ersson ahead of a long travel day on Friday and the Flyers’ home opener on Saturday night. Fedotov was mostly good, but a mixed bag, against Calgary last Saturday, allowing five goals in total but also making a handful of strong saves that could have easily given the Flames double-digit goals.
If he can at least hold his own, Fedotov will undoubtedly be a key player for the Orange and Black this season. Taking on the role of the starting goalie in the middle of the year last season, Ersson broke down towards the end, and it cost the team some valuable games.
Fedotov’s performance on Thursday night is certainly a storyline to watch.
Similarly, Flyers captain Sean Couturier also fell apart last season, though it was later revealed that the 31-year-old was playing through a sports hernia.
Couturier has not fared much better to start the season, and that is why he has quickly been demoted to the third line to the benefit of Morgan Frost and 18-year-old Jett Luchanko.
Luchanko, drafted 13th overall by the Flyers at the 2024 NHL Draft in June, was regularly matched up against McDavid on Tuesday night in only his second NHL game and will be playing in consecutive games for the first time in his fledgling career.
Luchanko does not have a point through his first two games, but head coach John Tortorella is looking for the rookie to take more risks offensively to try and create some goals.
The London, Ont., native will play in his third NHL game against the Kraken on Thursday night, which leaves him six more games until the nine-game “tryout” threshold has been reached.
At that point, Tortorella, Danny Briere, and the Flyers will have an important decision to make.
