- So, Philadelphia Flyers prospect Denver Barkey (somehow) didn’t make Team Canada’s World Junior Championship roster, but London Knights teammate and fellow Flyers prospect Oliver Bonk did. NHL News from National Hockey Now
- A source familiar with the situation tells New Jersey Hockey Now that New Jersey Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald has re-engaged in talks with the Anaheim Ducks regarding goaltender John Gibson. The two sides had previously talked over the course of the summer, as well. [New Jersey Devils]
- Sidney Crosby made NHL history in the Pittsburgh Penguins’ 4-3 shootout win over the Montreal Canadiens. Crosby’s three-point effort gives him 1,533 career points, tying him for 13th all-time with former teammate and Flyers legend Mark Recchi. [Pittsburgh Penguins]
- The New York Islanders are suddenly one of the hottest teams in hockey. They’ve won four games in a row, and are 6-0-1 in their last seven.
